when interviewing for a job, it's customary to show up.
candidate #3 for the designer position here at Saltmine U, was not just late for their interview -- they never showed. at 10 minutes late, i was annoyed. at 20 minutes, i started making phone calls. by the time i got a call from my boss to tell me she'd be late for her part of the interview day, i had pretty much given up on this candidate. i'm willing to accept some utter disaster as a reason for rescheduling the interview, but it'd have to be a real disaster.
the very last candidate's scheduled for late next week, so i'm looking forward to wrapping up this glacial recruiting phase, in which every word i commit to paper or electrons when communicating with candidates is screened and filtered. sigh.
