since none of the people i regularly do work for have anything in the pipeline, i thought i'd check out guru.com, a site for freelancers in multiple professions to find work.... i liked that i could have multiple profiles, as i have three different areas of expertise: design, writing, and illustration -- so i made one for each.... some items, like my resume, were persistent throughout all three profiles, which i didn't like; someone who wants to hire me to do technical writing could care less about my painting skills.

of course, when you give them more cowbell, they freak out and say it's too edgy.... in other news: my treo is mysteriously taking to its bed with the vapors every time i try to sync the calendar between it and my computer, or between it and the Exchange server at work.... i've given away three bags of avocados in the last few days, and am on the lookout for more suckers eager recipients.

but the actual design projects are just not too terribly cool or a stretch, so i can handle them pretty quickly, efficiently, and make the clients happy, solve the design problem… but not be very happy with them.... i have a serious case of nose-to-grindstone syndrome, as i tackle the day job, the studio work (both in and out of it), portfolio work, and then things just for me, some of which have nothing to do with getting work, like knitting.... for the time being is going to be figuring out new methods of keeping myself challenged, and that will most likely only happen once i go through trying to dig deep and discover more about how and what exactly i want to create.
